Description
There are moments in animal photography when everything seems to come together: The light. The pose. The expression. The feeling.
And then there are moments when a bear simply sits there in the snow, looks up, and for a brief second appears to be smiling at the universe.
I happened to have my big lens mounted, so naturally, I did what any serious photographer would do: I pointed it at him and waited.
Actually, I wasn’t really sure what I was waiting for? better pose, perhaps. A change in expression. Some fleeting moment that would turn a nice encounter into a portrait.
Then he looked exactly like this.
Sometimes, you don’t need to understand the moment. Sometimes, you just need patience and a little bit of luck.
